Keep Guelph
Green

York Lands, green spaces, Guelph’s small-town character.

Why it matters

As Guelph grows, we can welcome new residents while still protecting what makes this city worth living in. Green spaces, once lost to poor development, don't come back. Ward 1 deserves a councillor who treats that as a rule, not a suggestion.

The Yorklands are the clearest example. One of the most unique natural and historical spaces in Guelph, sitting vacant and provincially owned, with no plan for its future. Evan believes that has to change.

Keep Guelph's Big Small Town Feel

Ensure zoning regulations continue to support walkability and the character that makes Ward 1 neighbourhoods worth living in. If growth is coming, it should fit the city we already have, not replace it.

Protect the Yorklands

Advocate for transferring the Yorklands from the Province of Ontario to the City of Guelph for use as a public park and green space. Improve resident access, including removing the parking barriers that currently push visitors onto the shoulder of York Road, while respecting the site's ecological and historical importance.

A Yorklands Green Hub

Support establishing a Yorklands Green Hub on site: a home base for environmental education and youth programming that puts the land to use for the community while keeping it protected.
